I went the alternate route from you guys and prepped my stuff, stored it at a friends, and took a (gulp) one-way flight from Seattle to NYC, intending to find a place and then send for my things. As for a roommate I only have one friend interested seriously who is older than me and I've known for about 6 years. Hes already made a move out on his own to a more metropolis area.
